Is the fireworks ready?
Have the New Year's resolutions been written down?
Another new year is just around the corner.
This time, however, not according to our calendar, but according to the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar.
On February 5th, around a quarter of the world's population celebrates the beginning of the Year of the Pig.
This article will explain what this is all about and what it means for you.
What is the Chinese New Year?
The Chinese New Year is considered the most important traditional Chinese holiday. This event is celebrated extensively not only in China, but also in other Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
The traditional lunisolar calendar, unlike our Gregorian calendar, is oriented towards the moon and sun: celebrations take place on the second and, less frequently, the third new moon of the winter solstice.
This event simultaneously triggers the world's largest migration.
More than 385 million Chinese set out to leave the major cities and visit their families in rural areas.
Because, similar to our Christmas celebrations, the focus of the festivities is on spending time with loved ones.
The house is cleaned, red decorations are hung up, and traditional dishes that promise luck and wealth are prepared.
Unlike in our country, the Chinese New Year celebration does not last just one day; parades, festivals, and rituals extend over 15 days.
Families gather on February 4th and the celebrations continue until February 19th, when they conclude with the Lantern Festival.
For large parts of the population, the world stands still and work comes to a standstill at this time.
However, we are fortunate to have partners in China who ensure the smooth running of daily business even during the holidays.
As usual, we are able to handle transport requests to and from China with a sought-after and cost-effective logistics solution: the China train.
How our partners can be reached during the festival
As OCS freight forwarding, we offer an efficient transport option with the "China Train," which covers the route along the new Silk Road in just 17 days.
We handle all logistics and customs formalities for our customers.
Through our individual development and handling of requirements, this approach has quickly become a popular logistics solution for companies in the high-tech, electronics, automotive and consumer goods sectors.
To ensure a smooth process for our customers even during the extensive festivities, we deliberately work with reliable and motivated partners in China.
In particular, the digitally savvy, younger generation, who are not bound to working hours and location thanks to smartphones and tablets, remains available.
While most offices are closed, our partners continue to accept orders via email or WeChat messenger, arrange shipments and keep the business running.
