The story of a carnation's journey
Did you know that carnations and trucks have something in common?
They're both travelers and have come a long way. If you could ask them about it, they'd probably fill pages with their stories. Here's one such story.
But first, a question arises: how does a flower travel if it has roots?
Quite simply, it only takes root where it thrives. Originally from the Eurasian region, the carnation, in its numerous varieties, colors, sizes, and forms, now encompasses the entire European continent and can even be found sporadically on more remote continents. The journeys of our trucks are no different: from the OCS headquarters alone—where our roots lie—the routes of our vehicles constantly spread like a network across Europe, and especially into Eastern Europe.
Every journey – whether it's the journey of a carnation, a truck, or any other journey – begins with something small. In our case, it starts with a task we receive from you, our customers, which we meticulously process at headquarters before finally dispatching our vehicles on their planned routes.
In contrast, the journey of every carnation begins with something truly tiny – its seed, barely larger than the tip of a ballpoint pen. The seed's small size and its adaptability to various environments allowed the carnation to spread so widely. In biology, it is therefore classified as a neophyte – a plant or organism that can establish itself in non-native habitats.
Freight transport, and therefore trucks, is crucial for the spread of these neophytes – and thus also our carnation. Imagine seeds clinging unnoticed to the tarpaulin of a truck scheduled to reach St. Petersburg in two days.
Upon arrival, these accompanying seeds are carried away by the wind, perhaps settling in a meadow in Poland, where they can then spread their roots under ideal conditions. In this way, with every truck, every freight train, every container ship, we also send "stowaways" on journeys to places where they can take root, offering them the utmost comfort on their journey to a new life. With over 25 years of company history, we have a certain continuity in this area, both in transporting your goods and – unknowingly – in transporting neophytes. With every order from you, our customers, over these 25 years, we have not only grown our paths and roots to become what we are today. Even the carnation, as a neophyte, could only become the strong European flower it is today – partly thanks to our efforts.
And so, in the end, carnations and our vehicles have something else in common: a shared journey.
We recently sent you seeds from one of the most beautiful carnation varieties – this time knowingly – so that you too can give the carnation a place where it thrives. Let the carnation flourish and feel free to take a picture of your new plant. We look forward to seeing it.
