A major fire at the recycling center in the Rodendamm industrial park triggered a large-scale response from fire departments in the surrounding area on the night of Whit Monday. Many people contacted us about the fire, asking how we were affected. Since the fire originated only about 150 meters away from us as the crow flies, their concern was justified.

To put everyone's minds at ease, we can report that, apart from some minor odor nuisance, we have experienced no negative impacts whatsoever. Even the road closure has only had a limited effect on our office. Access is still possible, albeit only from the east.

The animal shelter Arche Noah, located directly opposite the scene of the accident, had far greater concerns. They had to evacuate all their residents during the night. According to the shelter, neither people nor animals were harmed during the evacuation. A huge thank you from us to the volunteers!

We hope the emergency responders who are still at the scene of the accident are doing just as well. Around 250 firefighters from the surrounding area have been called to the scene. The fire is still not extinguished. From our office, we can see that the emergency crews are currently using enormous amounts of water to fight the blaze. We wish them the best of luck!

We were actually very lucky to have been spared the smoke. The wind was blowing in such a favorable direction that the smoke almost completely passed our office.

Unfortunately, the neighboring gym was not so lucky and had to remain closed all day yesterday.

We also hope that the damage to neighboring businesses and residents was limited. We wish the affected business all the best for the future and hope that the fire does not jeopardize its operations.
