Of course, this actually fits together very well, even if it doesn't seem that way at first glance! Bee-friendly flowers improve the environment in some areas, while trucks and ships pollute it. A contrast that couldn't be greater!
Learning effects from nature
Nevertheless, logistics is learning from bees! Bees are known for their ability to make decisions collectively and solve complex tasks by sharing their information and skills. This phenomenon is often referred to as "swarm intelligence." Logistics has similar concepts that focus on the collaboration of people and technologies to enable efficient and flexible processes. One example is "swarm logistics," where deliveries from different transport companies are bundled in a network to make deliveries faster and more cost-effective. Another example is the use of modern means of transport, which are currently being increasingly tested in the USA. Drone deliveries of packages are a prime example; these are becoming increasingly reliable for last-mile delivery, do not burden city traffic, and are also environmentally friendly thanks to the use of green electricity
Bees are logistics experts!
Like many animals, bees are born logisticians. But very few insects cooperate so purposefully with their fellow bees. The worker bees begin collecting nectar in the early morning hours. If they find a flower field that is bountiful, but where a single bee cannot manage the entire load, she performs a dance, communicating to her colleagues where much can be achieved with minimal effort. In this way, the efficient transport of the nectar is organized, ensuring the survival of the hive for the following winter.
Logistics does exactly that, just on a much larger scale. When an order is too big to handle alone, you appreciate having a reliable partner who provides collaborative and supportive assistance. With over 30 years of experience, we've built a select network that allows us to master any challenge. Our customers and partners benefit from this, as it makes us highly flexible and efficient, ensuring smooth logistics.
Bees – threatened with extinction!
Bees are still threatened with extinction, especially wild species. Several factors contribute to this problem, such as habitat loss due to human development, the use of pesticides and herbicides in agriculture, climate change, and the spread of diseases and parasites. Bees are the foundation of our food supply and indispensable for ecosystems. Two-thirds of our food crops depend on pollination. But the pollination of wild plants is also important, as these form the basis for countless insects, birds, and mammals. With the decline in bee populations, the functioning of the ecosystem is at risk.
Like many people, we've wondered how we can support bees. After all, they are our role models. In the logistics sector, there are increasing efforts to create sustainable and environmentally friendly supply chains to minimize the impact on the environment. Additionally, colorful meadows already enrich the landscape in many communities with their diversity and magic. Unfortunately, this isn't enough. Since we can't directly influence diseases or farmers, we've made it our mission this year to improve the habitat of bees. That's why we're giving away bee-friendly flower seeds!
As logistics experts, we know that it's not just transport that sometimes needs meticulous planning. Our gift to our customers is no different. Fortunately, the seed packet includes planting instructions, making planning easy. You don't need a green thumb to grow these bee-friendly flowers; you simply need the desire to do something for the bees.
Let's be inspired by the bees and create a better habitat for these industrious creatures!
